PURPOSE OF MU ALPHA THETA

Mu Alpha Theta is the National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society with 93,300 student members in June 2012 in more than 1950 schools. We are dedicated to inspiring keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics in high school and two-year college students.

Mu Alpha Theta achieves these goals by:

  • Providing a method for schools to recognize and encourage those students who enjoy and excel in mathematics.
  • Organizing a national convention for students and teachers to participate in math-related events and interact with others from across the country.
  • Rewarding outstanding extracurricular achievement by offering special awards to both students and their faculty advisors.
  • Providing mathematics competitions to participating members at their own school through.

OSS has 8 full members and 4 associates in its chapter.  Any High School eligible student is more than welcome to join the Mathematics Honor Society.  For more information about the eligibility criteria you may visit http://www.mualphatheta.org/How_To_Join/EligibilityStudents.aspx  or contact to Mr. Moon.

Full members conduct meetings under their sponsor Mr. Moon every Tuesday. Team members are studying really hard for upcoming competitions and organizations. The honor society will participate and become volunteers in the future competitions. More information about Mu Alpha Theta will be coming in the future.
