Dear Junior Students and Parents,

Did you know that any eligible high school juniors who are excelling academically can have an early advantage in college admissions by applying to QuestBridge for the 2016 College Prep Scholars Program? The Deadline for students to apply is March 23,2016.

QuestBridge seeks students who have demonstrated a level of academic achievement that meets the admissions standards of their partner colleges. These are students whom you can envision thriving on the campus of a leading college. In addition, students must demonstrate evidence of financial hardship and obstacles they have overcome.

While there are no absolute academic or financial cut-offs, successful applicants usually fulfill these characteristics:

·         They are in the top 5% or 10% of their class.

·         They have received mostly A’s grades in the most rigorous classes.

·         They have scored >1250 (Critical Reading +Math) on the SAT or >27 (Composite) on the ACT.

·         Their household income is less than $65,000 a year, and often less for a typical family of four.

·         Often they are among the first generation in their family to attend college.

·         They are eligible for free or reduced-price lunch.
